October 13 to 18 is International Plain Language Week! Whatever…
Georgina Montgomery’s painterly debut
Almost two years ago, when our partner Georgina Montgomery retired, we said:
When she wasn’t meeting writing and editing deadlines, teaching, or parenting, she was dancing around the edges of art, dabbling in things like stained glass and collage. In the last 10 years, the pull became irresistible, and the desire to capture ideas in words shifted to the desire to capture them on canvas, specifically through abstract painting.
True to form, Georgina hasn’t held back, and we’re thrilled that she’ll be making her art-show debut later this month. In Light of Winter will feature the works of nine painters, members of the Zebra Art Collective. The paintings are personal interpretations of the meaning of winter solstice and “the shift of darkness and light that characterizes the closing months of the year.”
The exhibit runs from November 22 through December 14, 2019, at the Chapel Gallery in Victoria. (There are rumours of a WCEA field trip.)
Brava, Georgina!
