Your guide to editing conferences in 2026
Our annual conference round-up is back. Whether you’re looking for professional development from the comfort of your home office or excited to travel to a new destination, there’s lots to choose from.
At a time when travel budgets may be shrinking and online meeting technologies certainly make it easy to connect across time zones, is it still worth attending an in-person conference? For many of us, the answer is yes.
Nothing beats the casual conversation and networking during conference sessions for building relationships and trust—and for finding serendipitous solutions to problems you didn’t even know you had! Virtual chat rooms and breakout groups just aren’t the same, even when the setting is relaxed and everyone has a beverage in hand.
In-person meetings are also better for helping people focus and engage with the topics. Think about the times you have come home from a conference brimming with ideas and fired up to put them all into practice.
The reality today, however, is that many of us are attending more virtual conferences. The chance to connect with like-minded professionals who understand the work you do day to day, empathize with its challenges, and suggest tips and tricks to improve your productivity can be priceless. And there’s no more efficient and effective way to connect with a large and diverse audience of colleagues around the world than online.
